Invitation to Branches/Districts to contribute to INTO's 150 celebrations
In 1868 – 150 years ago this year – a number of pre-existing local Teacher Associations came together to form the INTO. The Organisation has since grown to become Ireland’s largest, longest-established and only all-island teachers’ union.
To commemorate “INTO 150” a range of events have been organised. Below is a sample of them:
- Catherine Mahon Lecture
Talk on Catherine Mahon-first female president of INTO on Thursday 8th February at 8p.m. Club na Múinteoirí, 36 Parnell Square. Refreshments will be served afterwards. - Bursaries
INTO Education Research Bursaries are being increased for the “INTO 150” year to have five bursaries worth €3,000 each. The application process will be open in April with a closing date of 28 September, and winners to be announced at the Education Conference in November 2018. - Commemorative Stamp
An Post’s Stamp Programme for 2018, approved by government, includes a stamp to mark “INTO 150”, to be available from 22 March. - Annual Congress
April 2 – 4 2018: INTO Annual Congress Killarney: Special events to mark INTO 150. - Ballymena Branch Celebration Dinnernnual Congress

“INTO 150” Cycle over 150 kilometres (Skibbereen to Glengarriff along the Wild Atlantic Way route) on Saturday 21 April 2018, with proceeds to Focus Ireland. A call for participants will be included in the January/February edition of InTouch. Please email mmcconigley@into.ie for more information.
