INTO invite you to the Annual Vere Foster lecture which is being held to commemorate the life of this great educationalist and philanthropist. Vere Foster died in Belfast in 1900 and is buried in the City Cemetery. He believed that the means to improve the condition of the people was through education and the best way to improve education was to improve the lot of teachers. Vere founded the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) and was its first President.
This year’s lecture will be delivered Frank Connolly, SIPTU Head of Communications, and is entitled:
What would an all-island education system look like? What are the initial steps to it?
It will be held on Friday, 13th January 2023 at 6pm in The Malone Hotel, Belfast.
Frank Connolly is an investigative journalist who has written extensively on current affairs and politics in Ireland over the past 30 years. He is currently Head of Communications with SIPTU, Ireland’s largest trade union.
Light refreshments will be served.
